Synopsis:

Ida Esposito, a Neapolitan teacher who has been living in Verona for many years, is transferred to a school in a disadvantaged neighbourhood in Naples. At first she doesn’t get on too well with her new class, but with her social and professional skills she soon manages to win the trust of her new students.
Backed by the head master, and despite opposition from the math teacher Matricano , Ida launches a newspaper written by her students. A newspaper that deals with important issues such as homosexuality, parent-children relations and the equality of the sexes. Ida is separated from her husband and enters a relationship with her colleague Carlo Caviolo . Everything seems to be going well, but Ida is worried about her bad relationship with her daughter Marta, who lives with her father in Verona. Marta resents her mother particularly since she was transferred to Naples because she was accused of sexual harassment by one of her girl students.
When this news leaks out it triggers a reaction from the parents. Despite the favourable impression Ida makes on the school inspector , prejudice against her is strong and she is again transferred.
