Synopsis:

After the success of "Villi", Giacomo Puccini leaves the soprano Cristina and invites Elvira to leave with him for Milan. Despite his frequent infidelities, Elvira stays by his side and gives him a child, even though Cristina, now famous, tries to steal him away. But after the triumph of "La Bohème", Giacomo decides to marry Elvira but her role is destined to be the humble and permanently neglected wife of the increasingly famous composer, until one day she leaves him. This and the suicide of a maid who was in love with him, deeply affects the composer and the failure of "Madame Butterfly" induces Elvira to return, and stay by his side even when he is affected by ill-health.
