Synopsis:

Salvatore, Neopolitan Bersagliere, falls in love with Anita. The impetuousness of the soldier wins the independent girl over and they go to live together, intending to marry as soon as possible. However, the soldier drowns before the wedding, and it is not long before Anita is consoled by various suitors. But the girl is harassed by the ghost of Salvatore who demands her incorruptible affection, leaving it practically impossible for her to accept any of the proposals made by her suitors.
